I moved here a few months ago; it was my first time in a city and I chose this place primarily because it was relatively new, safe, allowed pets and they offered free parking for one year (otherwise you pay $130/mo.). Some of the staff is nice (yes, Marlena & Pete), the others at times seem unfriendly and aloof. Maintenance is good, they fix things right away. Parking is okay, yes you do have to drive almost to the top of the garage at times to get a spot-->but you have fewer door dings that way. As for the residents, most of them are nice but it's a bit like Melrose Place, lots of gossip, nosey neighbors and a little bed-hopping (most residents in their 20's-30's). The Eutaw Street side is not well insulated, you hear everything!!! You are a few blocks from a fire station, but you'll eventually get used to the fire trucks at 2, 4, and 6 a.m. :). The clubroom/internet and gym are nice. The buildings are tastefully designed, but yes, there is a lot of construction going on and it is REALLY an inconvenience-->yes, management should compensate, but you sign away your rights to protest when you sign the lease, so....... Security patrols the buildings and garage, if you are stupid and leave your CD's and sunglasses out in the open, you will get robbed; it's that simple. This is Baltimore, not Kansas, Dorothy, so use common sense. As for pets, yes they allow them but you pay up to $50.00 per month AND you have this tiny little wood chip area to walk your dog (relieve your dog) and the construction crews throw their trash and materials there. Certainly for $50.00 per pet, they could accomodate the MANY dogs a little better. The concierge is not that great, she's nice, but does not appear to be very knowledgable. The management does offer incentives, ball games, happy hours, but this is sporatic and often they run out of tickets or post events at the last minute-->they could do better in this area to bring the neighbors together a little more. We are a community, afterall. Overall, (even though I have a lot of concerns and suggestions that should be addressed by management), I would recommend it. It's expensive, but for someone moving to Baltimore for the first time and wanting to be downtown and safe, live here. Once you are more comfortable with the area, move somewhere else less expensive, that's what I plan to do.
