Cool Place to Live
Review Date: 6/3/2009 Reviewer: Anonymous
I've only lived at the Atrium for 3 months but so far so good. I chose this place because of all of the amenities and benifits compared to other downtown living spots. The rent ranges for the upper $900s to to $2200. I really liked the floor plans and was hoping to get a loft but none were available so I settled for a one bedroom. The one bedroom is huge! I have alot of stuff and this apartment can hold it all. It has 2 mid sized closets, one small closet and a very large walk in closet. So I have a place to store all my junk. The building is really quiet and everyone seems to keep to themselves. They have an awesome Atrium which has wireless internet. It's very peaceful and you can go down there to study or read a book or whatever. There's a business center with three outdated computers, but you can surf the net so that's good enough for me. The gym is awesome. There's enough equiptment for 20 people to work out at a time but not too many residents take advantage of it which means more room for me. The staff is very plesant and they hold quarterly and holiday events to help residents get to know each other. I think the rent prices are slightly cheaper than other's in the area because from what I can see the Atrium is right on the line were the good side of Balitmore meets the bad. On the outside of the building it's a little nerve wrecking because the homeless and druggies frequent that area. From what I've been told, there are several drug treatment centers in the local area. Plus there are 4 bus stops on around the building including a train stop so the streets are always full of people. Just to the left of the entrance is a Rite Aid drug store and to the left of the drug store is a small police station. So that offers some safety for those who feel uncomfortable with all the people walking around outside. The Atrium is within walking distance to the Inner Harbor. If you don't mind walking 7 or 8 blocks that is. It's great exercise. The parking is reasonable as well. It cost $105 per month and the parking area for residents is gated with a walkway to the 7th floor. I moved to Baltimore from Florida and was very concerned about my safety. I chose the Atrium because it is safe and if I never wanted to set foot outside, the building is designed so that I can come and go without having to be outside if I don't want to. But the area has alot of amenities if you're the type that likes to get outside and explore. Theres a market area just behind the Atrium, there's a starbucks 1 block away. A Bank of America and M & T Bank that's only a block away. Camden yards is 6 blocks away and there are a host of fast food and eat in restaurants nearby. Public transportation is completely accessible as soon as you walk outside and there is also a private shuttle service provided for residents who want to get a ride the most frequeted spots in the city. Overall I like the Atrium. If there was one thing I could change it would be how the windows are made because I've had a terrible time trying to find curtains that will fit the huge windows. But other than that the place is awesome. |
